Embedding the Patient and Family Experience in Planning
2-5-2025
Patient and Community Representatives play a critical role in the planning process, helping to ensure the patient and visitor experience is at the forefront of decision making.
Mellissa Patrick is a representative working with the Paediatric Inpatient and Outpatient User Groups. In this video produced for National Volunteer Appreciation Week, she says when your child is in a hospital bed, you see things very differently and this platform allows her to share her family’s lived experience to inform the design of the new hospital.
“I’m a mom who has walked the halls of these hospitals feeling terrified, confused and exhausted. Through these experiences, I’ve gained valuable insights and perspectives that I believe can benefit these meetings.”
The planning team is grateful to Mellissa and all of the Patient and
Community Reps. for
their continued dedication and commitment to the project.
