The Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the newly renovated 4West Atrium, designed specifically for patients and their families. This serene space provides a distraction-free environment where loved ones can gather and spend quality time together.

The revitalization of this area was made possible through the generous contributions from Transition 2 Betterness (T2B) and their incredible donors, including the Stephanie and Barry Zekelman Foundation. Shift Interiors handled the design and furnishings, while the stunning outdoor mural was created by Derkz.

The atrium welcomes visitors daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering a peaceful retreat for patients and their families to relax and socialize away from their rooms during their stay. This special space allows for safe and private connections with loved ones, and an outdoor area is also available, weather permitting.

Guest speakers from T2B, the Stephanie and Barry Zekelman Foundation, and Windsor Regional Hospital attended an official grand opening on October 21, to inaugurate the space and extend a warm welcome to patients, families, and staff.

“This beautiful atrium on 4West has been designed to give our patients and their families a place where they can pause, reflect, and connect away from their hospital room,” says Karen Riddell, President and CEO, Windsor Regional Hospital.

“On behalf of Windsor Regional Hospital, our Board, leadership team, staff, and volunteers, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Stephanie and Barry Zekelman, Transition 2 Betterness, and everyone who played a role in bringing these projects to life. Because of your generosity, this atrium will serve as a lasting symbol of hope, strength, and compassion for years to come.”

Windsor Regional Hospital is also pleased to reintroduce the Back the Pack initiative. Each child entering the Oncology Program will receive a new backpack filled with educational toys and items tailored to their needs. This initiative aims to provide these children with personal toys during their hospital stays and to serve as their backpack for trips to and from the hospital for treatment. T2B manages this program, which is generously funded by the Stephanie and Barry Zekelman Foundation.
