WRH Launches Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Program
desktop mobileWindsor Regional Hospital embarked on a new venture with the launch of the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant (ASCT) program, a service previously unavailable locally.

This was a major step forward in offering comprehensive transplant services right here in Windsor-Essex. Prior to this, patients had to travel significant distances to access specialized centres outside the region.

 

New President and CEO Appointed
desktop mobileThe Board of Directors at Windsor Regional Hospital was proud to announce its incoming leader following an extensive recruitment process.

Kristin Kennedy joined WRH as its President and CEO in April, 2026. Kristin is well known in our region following several years as President and CEO of Erie Shores Healthcare and, previously, as its Chief Nursing Executive.

 

Hospital To Home Program Launches!
desktop mobileWindsor Regional Hospital, in partnership with SE Health, launched Hospital to Home (H2H) – an innovative approach to help patients transition safely from hospital back home.

 

Innovative Stroke Procedure Leads to Complete Patient Recovery
desktop mobileThe Windsor-Essex Enhanced District Stroke Centre was excited to announce the success of highly advanced stroke treatment called an endovascular thrombectomy.

Thanks to this quick and innovative care, the patient made a full recovery with no lasting neurological problems.

 

District Stroke Centre Expands Boundary to Accept More Patients
desktop mobileThe Enhanced District Stroke Centre of Windsor-Essex was proud to announce the geographical expansion of the boundary to accept patients for endovascular thrombectomy at WRH who live West of Merlin Townline (Tilbury).

This bypass allows for faster access to hyperacute treatments for the residents living in Tilbury.

Understanding the Patient Experience Through Journey Mapping
desktop mobileAs part of the planning process for a new hospital, Windsor Regional Hospital is using patient journey mapping - an exercise that follows a patient’s experience step-by-step through the proposed new hospital facility.

 

Together We Build
desktop mobileMembers of the planning team met with representatives from various faith communities across the region to gather input on how to make the new hospital’s multi-faith space welcoming and comforting for people of all beliefs and backgrounds.

 

Indigenous Leaders Join Project Team at the Planning Table
desktop mobileAs part of ongoing work to develop the design documents, the project team met with leaders from First Nation Communities and Indigenous organizations in the region to provide an update and gather input on evolving plans.

 

RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE - AWARDS & ACHIEVEMENTS

WRH Physician Receives Organ and Tissue Donation Award
desktop mobileA Windsor Regional Hospital physician was recognized by Ontario Health (Trillium Gift of Life Network) for his outstanding efforts to integrate organ and tissue donation into quality end-of-life care.

Dr. Tyler Jervis received the Ontario Health (TGLN)’s Provincial Donation Champion Award, given to healthcare professionals who are exceptional advocates for organ and tissue donation.

 

WRH RPN Wins 18th Annual Lois Fairley Nursing Award

Collavino Families Announce $1-Million Gift to New Hospital
desktop mobileMotivated by personal experiences with heart and lung health concerns, members of two Collavino families made a $1-million gift toward the Fancsy Family Hospital to support vital equipment and technologies needed at the future acute care facility.

The Collavino Family Cardio-Pulmonary Diagnostic Lab at the Fancsy Family Hospital will commemorate their generous contribution to the new hospital.

 

Community Group to Support Fancsy Family Hospital
desktop mobileThe Chinese community of Windsor and Essex announced an impressive commitment to the future of local healthcare, pledging to raise $500,000 over the next five years in support of the Fancsy Family Hospital. The funds will help purchase state-of-the-art equipment and technology needed at the new acute care facility.

 

Record Year for Hats On For Healthcare
